Over 30 Years of Experience

We have considerable experience working with international clients across many countries. Here’s a brief overview of our journey, which you may find interesting and relevant to some of the challenges you may have encountered.

In the early 1990s, whilst working for a leading UK Retailer (480+ stores) expanding beyond the UK borders, we were first faced with the simple question of “What are the health and safety legislation requirements for this country?” and couldn’t find an answer.

Various internet searches later failed to give us the information we could work with, so we jumped on a plane and arranged a visit to a local authority in-country to find the answers to what we needed to know.

What We Learned Along the Way

We quickly learned that any assumptions that all countries within the European Union followed the same EU Safety legislation were fundamentally flawed.

We also established that what seems like a simple attempt to take one country’s safety legislation (for example, the UK) and then apply it to all other countries doesn’t work, is fraught with problems, and can be a very costly mistake. Then there's the language barrier, differences in healthcare systems and the local culture to overcome.

So, our journey to research and establish health & safety and fire safety legislation requirements began.

15 years later, we supported a world-leading sportswear brand with a rapid expansion of retail stores (150+) across 19 European countries after they had encountered a similar problem and had been unable to find an answer – until they found us!
